Dead Body of Male Student Discovered at UEW GUSSS Hall 3 — Police Launch Investigation

Tragedy struck the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) community as the lifeless body of a male student was discovered at GUSSS Hall 3 in the early hours of Thursday, June 12, 2025. The incident has left students, faculty, and residents in a state of shock and sorrow.

According to preliminary information gathered from eyewitnesses, the body was found by fellow students who raised an alarm after noticing an unusual silence and lack of response from the victim’s room. Authorities were immediately notified, and the Ghana Police Service arrived on the scene shortly afterward to secure the area.

As of now, the identity of the deceased has not been officially released, pending notification of the family. The body has since been transported to the morgue for autopsy, which investigators say will be key to determining the cause of death.

A spokesperson for the Central Regional Police Command confirmed that a full-scale investigation is underway. “We are currently treating this as an unexplained death. We are interviewing students and gathering evidence to establish the facts surrounding this unfortunate incident,” the spokesperson said.

Management of UEW has expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family and assured the university community of its full cooperation with law enforcement agencies. Counseling services have also been made available to students affected by the tragic news.

At the time of reporting, no foul play has been confirmed, and the police have urged the public to refrain from speculation while investigations continue.
